A Global Effort:Most wasted food is produced by Western European countries and America. The single biggest thing you can do is actually watch portion control: Up to 40% of food in America is wasted. A large part of this is made up of thrown out leftovers and "excess" food that gets discarded. By not ordering as much, people can both prevent weight gain and let those who need food get more easier.

The easiest way to help those in need is to contribute to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. Partnered with over 300 organizations, they sort and distribute food to those with the greatest needs. You can do something as simple as donating money online or non-perishable foods, to collecting food from other volunteers or working volunteer shifts.
