We produce enough food to feed twice as many people live on this planet. The issue is getting food to the people who need it the most. That is why we started the Austin TX Hunger Helpers; to help people in need get access to the food that others can provide.

Background:
On school trips to the Heifer International Ranch and to San Jose, Costa Rica, we learned much about hunger as a worldwide problem, and the setbacks preventing the eradication of hunger. We did our research and after some deliberation we concluded that the single biggest setback is proper distribution of food. We produce more food than we need, yet nearly 1/3 of it goes to waste and over 852 million people are undernourished or malnourished.
We've created this website to help those in Austin get access to food assistance when they need it. With a still-growing catalog of food pantries, we hope that people will use this resource to discover new places near them that offer assistance.
